I am 6 months pregnant and I was wondering what are the chances of my son having red hair? I am white and blonde hair blue eyes. My dad is blonde and my mom is frekly and auburn hair, my great grandma on my mom's side also has auburn hair. But my babies father is black, and has black hair.. I heard red hair skips a generation.. is that true? and what are my chances of my son having red hair?
What are the chances of my son having red hair?
I don't think red hair skips a generation, it's all down to genes...with your babies father being black, I'd say that there are better chances at your child being born and having black, if not dark brown hair. If you two continue to have babies, one of them might have different coloured hair, but more than likely they'll have dark hair, because the dark gene is more dominant while the red hair gene is recessive. My mom is white, blue eyes, light brown hair, and my father is African-American...I've got black hair and dark brown eyes. My sisters as well, we've all got black hair and brown eyes.
What are the chances of my son having red hair?
I once knew a black man with red hair (not dyed).
I'm wondering this too, as I'm pregnant and my father had red hair.
I hope your child gets the hair color you wish. Congrats :)
What are the chances of my son having red hair?
Would you love him less if he has red hair???
Why does it matter?
It sounds like, yeah, you could have a redhead, or not...I don't think it skips a generation. I know too many redheads with redhaired kids.
What are the chances of my son having red hair?
That someone in your family has red hair. What is wrong with red hair any way. im blonde a red is all right
What are the chances of my son having red hair?
It sounds unlikely that your baby will have a good chance of having red hair. It is more likely that the baby's father's dominant genes, like his black hair, would come out.
What are the chances of my son having red hair?
Tough one, genetics can be pretty complicated. Generally speaking, dark haired gene's are dominant. If the baby's dad is black, odds are higher that your baby will have dark hair. Same goes for curly, curly hair is dominant. Brown eyes are also dominant.
Now, with that said, my Aunt is fair skinned and blonde and her husband was black. She had three children, all of them have curly hair, two of them have brown eyes but one of them has bright blue eyes (like his mom). Two of them have dark brown/black hair, but the blue eyed one has light brown/blond curly hair.
So....in the end, it's really hard to guess!
What are the chances of my son having red hair?
I have dark hair my husband has dark hair my moms hair is bright red and my son has red almost orange hair I don't know the statistics but I don't think it skips because 3 of my sisters also have red hair
What are the chances of my son having red hair?
About 1 in 16.
What are the chances of my son having red hair?
considering your hair is blonde and his is black your baby's hair will most likely be something in between like brown. It probably won't have red hair, but it may have tints of red at the most.
What are the chances of my son having red hair?
Dark hair genes are dominant over light hair genes. If one parent has red and one black, the is usually a one in four chance of the child having red. However since you're talking a generation before that, the only way your son can have red hair (using the typical genetic methods, strange things do happen however) is if you or the father is carrying the recessive gene for it. Even then there is less than a one in four chance of it.
I hope this helps a bit. Do remember that genetics aren't an exact science though, and things do happen that wouldn't normally.
