I actually dye my hair Atmoic Pink and to achieve the bright vibrant color, I just go to hot topic and spend 12 bucks on a bleaching kit there. Talk about bang for your buck. I have dark brown hair and by the time I leave the bleach in my hair for 45 minutes its almost white. After you bleach it just put the color on dry hair and let it stay in as long as you want it to pretty much. And for touch ups for when it starts to fade just reapply more of ur leftover bright color. And wash your hair every other day too, to avoid fading.

It's important to bleach your hair out as much as possible before you dye it, unless you have really blonde hair. The color will fade over time so you will have to keep re-dyeing it occassionally. They also make special shampoos for color-treated hair.

Go the the hairdresser and they can give your a permanent haircolor. They have the wild colors there. They will not use a permanent color on you tho if your hair was previously processed (highlights, perm). Then you will have to get a semi-permanent and just redye it frequently (like I do!).

I'd say gradually go darker and darker just to make sure you'll like it. But if you want to go black at once use a soft black first. The darker hair color will defenatly make your blue eyes stand out so you may not even need the colored contacts. And just b/c your dying your hair black with your pale skin tone doesn't mean you'll look gothic. Dark and mysterious maybe but I don't think a person looks gothic til they pile on the black eyeliner and eyeshadow...which does look pretty sometimes.

I would suggest, when dying your hair, to start slow and gradually build up to the darker colors; you may find a color that better suits you on the way to the darker colors. Going from very light to very dark is a trasition that may be overwhelming and if you don't like it and you try to go back to blonde your hair could turn orange, green or even bright pink! Sapphire Blue contacts do look great but ask your optomitrist to let you try them on first and see how you like them you may end up choosing something else like sea blue or sky blue. Even with self tanner you could look unnatural. I just suggest doing things slow and not rushing into a color that you might end up hating!

I used to be obsessed with Lizzie McGuire and in some of the episodes the girls had color in their hair (blue, green, etc.) that they said washed out. It didn't look like the hairspray like they have at fairs or the gel. It looked like their hair was actually dyed. Hello, I've got (dyed) reddishy darky brown hair that is 4 inches past my shoulder (ish). I've got pale skin and electric blue eyes, and my hair is layered. I've got a side but fullish fringey thing. I've been rocking the dark hair/blond streak for over a year and a half and I have to say, it's difficult to maintain!! You'll probably need to bleach first, but my suggestion is to NOT (let me say that again) NOT bleach it too much!! Take it up to a yellow-blond... this will make it light enough to really pop, but leave enough pigment in the hair to really adhere to the new color you put in! If you over-bleach, the hair will be too porous to keep the color, and it will fade almost immediately!

As for brand--try Wella or Chi... best colors and they last longer! Good luck!

I have the same complexion/hair as you and I wear hazel/green contacts. I really like them and people always comment on how pretty they think my eyes are. I think green contacts would be perfectly okay...but blue might look a little too unnatural. Your optometrist or contact provider will usually provide you with some sort of brochure or pamphlet describing all of the colors they offer and what will look best on which people.
